Adding a roof ladder to the side of our rig...
Hi Guys!
Since we've got a Toy-hauler: we lack a ladder!
I seem to recall that Jayco offered a roof ladder that mounted to the side of some of their 5th wheel rigs.
Has anybody ever looked into buying and installing one of them?

Instead of a mounted ladder, we got one of the telescoping ladders that folds down and stores in a pass through compartment.

Much easier and holds my rather large self easily. They also come in different sizes.

The Missus has decided that she doesn't want to lean anything up against the side of our rig...
This means less chances for me to scratch up the paint and the vinyl graphics...
(We also don't have very much storage available in our outside compartments.)

Says the man who has a garage with him at all times!
We always put a cloth under the ladder where it leans up against the RV. No scratches so far...

You won't believe how much "Stuff" gets stuffed into the garage!
The Spyder DOES tale a 1200 pound bite out it's capacity!
I've tried explaining the process of wrapping a towel around the top several rungs of the ladder: she's not buying into it, and I know when to fold 'em.

Bob, unless your feet are only about 6" long I would think climbing the ladder could mar up the sides more than a padded ladder leaning against it. It sounds like a great idea otherwise. It could even work on my Gemini maybe.

That's a good point to consider...
But my size 10's should be okay; I usually use the balls of my feet for ladder-work!

We cut a couple of swim "noodles" to put on our telescoping ladder. Since we have a VEGAS 25.2, we are also "ladderless"

Thanks... the only problem is: she wants a ladder.
And you know what they say about keeping the Boss happy!

Pull up really close to you neighbor at the camp ground and use their ladder. It would be just a short jump across

First big factor would be to contact THOR and determine if sidewall framing will support a ladder.. ..

just what all of us "aging" RV'ers should try!
What about "jump springs" ?
I heard they make those for size 10 feet
Just get a good running start and....

side ladder
be car full not to go 102 inches wide, ( rear view mirrors don't count) or you could get tagged by most states as to wide

I haven't tried this, yet, but I'm going to try using one of those pool noodles to use as padding on my telescoping ladder. I think if I cut a slit in the pool noodle then it will attach onto the ladder for some pretty good padding.

Good point: I had forgotten about this little regulation.

I totally understand when you say “the missus wants” but sometimes want and can have are totally different. Finding structural supports with the correct spacing to attach the ladder to could prove difficult! You’re also going to have the extra width of the ladder on the side of your trailer, measure to make sure it doesn’t exceed legal width. Pool noodles on a telescoping ladder work great and the ladder really doesn’t take up much room, I carry an 11’ ladder all the time for washing the windshield.

Thanks...

Walmart has boxes and boxes full of them. Get the big noodles not the skinny ones, slit with a box knife and cut to the length you need.
