Locking Gas Cap for Vegas/Axis E450
I could not believe how difficult it was to actually find a cap for the E450. I not only went to the usual auto parts stores, I went to my local Ford dealer. They all have NOTHING in their computer for our vehicles!
Luckily, I discovered another thread in which someone discovered this cap (in pic below) which works. One person had tried it on their Freedom Elite and another on a Vegas 27.7. Picked it up at my NAPA dealer this morning and it went right on. Well, after I figured out that you can't put it on while it is in the "locked" position!

I absolutely hate the ease in which someone could totally screw up your system and leave you stranded in the middle of nowhere. Easy $20 decision, for me.

Until they pop a hole in the bottom of the tank and make off with all your fuel plus hit you up for the cost of a new tank.

I am not as worried about that. If that happens, it happens and you know about it. If someone pours something into your system that shouldn't be in there and you run your engine, all hell breaks loose and you don't even know why for a long while.

I got mine from O'Reilly, also I saw them at Auto Zone. Also noticed someone messed with the fresh water cap one day so I installed a locking cap on there .

O'Reilly and Auto Zone obviously haven't cross-referenced this cap to show when searching for an E450, because their systems don't even show a regular gas cap, let alone a locking one!
What did you use for the fresh water one? I'd love to do that, as well!

For the fresh water cap I got one from amazon for a marine fresh water holding tank, however, you have to replace the whole insert with the locking cap,not too hard and took about half hour.

The only ones I see on Amazon are rectangular and my cutout for fresh water is circular. Did you have to do a little saw work or is there a different one that I'm not seeing?

I bought this water-filler for another project but it's the same as my 2018 24.1 filler.
If you're not in a hurry add it to your amazon list. I got mine for 7 bucks 'used'

Tje funny thing is when I wanted a locking gas cap I just walked into my local AutoZone and I told them I need one for the "F" series (I figured they would NOT have the "E" series in their system but they did. They had 3 total....one regular cap, one with a Tether, and one locking cap.
Fits perfect.

A tether on the locking cap would be nice.

Agree, but I figure since I have to use the key to lock it up after fueling, it will be harder to drive away without replacing it, as long as I keep the gas key with the MH key.

I found mine for my 31E from amazon. i got it as part of my initial RV mass purchasing. it's a tad loose for my taste but it dosent rattle and I haven't gotten a check engine light yet for it so i call it a win.

That’s smart
There are many reduced price items in opened or damaged packages that work fine

Fuel cap
Thanks for posting this. I just got the “fuel cap” light coming home from Kentucky and was thinking I would start by replacing the cap before investing/investigating any further. Any of you ever had this light?

Yes I have had the light come on
Twice in 10k miles
It goes off after the 3rd driving cycle
I believe it’s the gas cap, but it could also be a mis-fire.
We get it more often in CA because of our very “special”, very expensive fuel.
