Smile New Member Four Winds 28A

My husband and I just bought our first Class C - a 2024 Four Winds 28A. We are excited to get on the road but a little nervous. We camped with our 3 children for many years in a Coleman pop-up that we absolutely loved and drove everywhere from the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, and the Rockies to Nova Scotia. Now that we're retired and the kids are grown, we wanted something a bit more luxurious with indoor plumbing

We have a lot to learn about motorhomes and hope that you experienced campers can give us the advantage of your years of experience. We are planning our first big trip to the Grand Canyon for April.

Just a bit more about us...we live in southeast lower Michigan just outside Detroit.
Thanks in advance for being here :-)

Welcome to the group! We did the same in 2017! Kids were grown, so we moved out of "the big city" and bought our retirement home. Then the itch to roam bit us... so we bought a new 2017 Grand Design TT and capable truck to tow with. Hitching and loading the truck got old real quick, so we traded the TT for a new 2020 Chateau in fall of 2019.

Now that the wife's finally retired we have MANY more options!

If you're mechanically inclined and handy with fixing things, you'll have no problems at all. We're in our third and final house - none were new - so I've become a jack of all trades keeping up with maintenance and repair. Those skills transfer easily to a motorhome.

Happy travels and enjoy! Life's short... enjoy while you are able!

Congrats on your new coach! Relax and enjoy your travels, just don't try to push too hard and allow some time for the unexpected.
BTW, checklists will be your best friend. Make several and use them.

I've been reading almost too much :-) Thank you for the reminder to look at and print checklists and thanks so much for the welcome!

Newbie from Texas

We also bought our first RV - also a 2024 Four Winds 28A - we live near Houston TX.

We've done a few local trips in the Fall (Sam Houston National Forest) - and are getting used to what to do. If you have any particular questions or issues do share.

Like in my opinion the hot water heater is way too hot (scalding) - it doesn't have a control we can lower the temp - so we run the heater for about 20 minutes and then shut it off.

Happy camping

Patrick and Mary

Congrats on the new coach. I have an older 28A and love it. Have traveled all over, both coasts, Alaska, Canada, and many national parks. It’s a great RV, but you’re going to need a can do attitude keeping everything ship-shape. Also, decide how much daily driving is comfortable and dont do too much. it’s not about how fast you get to your destination, but rather how much fun you have on the way.

We are doing short trips locally - and recently spent a couple of nights at the Galveston State Park - Texas - nice park just off the beach - and very popular. Chatted with a french canadian guy next 'door' who also bought his BMW motorcycles

Good times - and nice beach walking
