My whirlpool dryer

My dryer had been working fine today in my coach. Today when it was time to run a load nothing. Not a sound nothing. Checked all breakers and fuses and plugs all were fine. It is six years old could it be time to replace or have I missed something?

Are you getting any power to the dryer?

If. No. Check the plug?

Also check the plug the dryer, plugs into and check for voltage.

Can you unplug washer, and plug the dryer into the same plug, this would rule out the receptical is bad

I checked all the fuses by the breaker box and everything was ok.

I would think that the dryer would have to operate for the thermal fuse to blow. I was totally non-functional today when the button was pressed to start the machine.

Just because one receptacle of a double outlet works, doesn't mean the other one will. Usually... but not a sanity check.

In this case start from the power source (breakers) and work your way INTO the washer... which involves removing a back panel on the dryer. If you've not comfortable with electricity, get a professional to do it.

Personally I would unplug the dryer, and check voltage of that receptacle. Then remove the back from the dryer and check continuity of the plug to it's termination point... likely a circuit board. If you have continuity to that point... it's probably something beyond a layman repair. That's where you start using Google to search... Good luck!!

No need to troubleshoot the power supply if the washer works and you swapped outlets with the washer and have the same result.

Your problem is in the dryer. The dryer may have a thermal breaker on the back that needs to be reset but most likely it's something inside the dryer.

Look in the manuals troubleshooting section (you can get it online if needed) to see if you've overlooked anything.

Our pair are on a split outlet

They are controlled by the load management system as well so if the electric fireplace is on then no dryer

Sounds like you (op) narrowed it down per Ted at a bad dryer

Guy parked next to us last year had the dryer element go bad and no power but it did trip the breaker at least the first time

Be curious as to what you find. Ours is 6 years old as well

After checking thermal breaker, outlets the whole nine yards I am upgrading to a new dryer and putting this one out of its mystery.

Excellent idea.
I believe in buying happy.
An upgrade, no house call to fix the old one, I don't see a down-side.

(Ask who here has dragged one out/installed one before. Helpful hints are helpful)
And
Ask if a forum member close to you wants your old one.
Craigslist: 'broken dryer I'm very mad at', might not draw a high denominator crowd.
