Refrigerator - 2004 Four Winds 5000

Hi All,

Last four, I have my RV on 110 volt power and the refrigerator was running with the freezer door accidentally left open. The result is the refrigerator stop working.

I have it on auto mode. The light is still switching between gas/electric if I have AC on/off. When I open the door, the light still works. However, it is not cold any more.

Does any know if how to figure out exactly what has stop working? Breaker? fuse? And how to fix it.

Many thanks.

So you're plugged in to shore power?

120v at fridge outlet?

Fridge set to on/auto?

Fridge light is on so 12v is present

Switch it to GAS and see if it cools. The 120 VAC heating element may have burned out. easy repair.

When I switch to gas, it works perfectly fine.

I love to hear the "easy fix" What is the "element"? Can you show me how to fix it?

Thanks

Amazoom has a Norcold fridge heating element listed for under $40 I am sure they have Dometic as well.
As far as install, YouTube is your friend. I watched a video of a guy changing a fridge heating element. Video lasted about 4 minutes. Minimal tools, screwdrivers and needle nose pliers.

You're too far away for me to do a day-trip to help you out, but first you need to:

Locate the Make/Model # of your fridge.
Locate the service manual online to get the part # or just Google by info above and "AC heating element"
Procure said heating element
Swap it out per the following video or one similar that may even be for your fridge.

Or if you want to make a weekend trip to North Florida once you have the part I would be happy to help you change it out.
