Winterixing and pump won't pull anti freeze out of tank

So I am trying to get my daughter's travel trailer winterized.
Loaded AF in the fresh water tank, turned on the pump, it sprays a little water and then stops, no pink stuff..at all outputs. Any ideas ?

Joe

Is there a valve near the tanks on the outgoing line? On or off?

Is there a winterizing riser, or winterizing valve?
Make and model of TT and photos of tank and lines nearby would help.

My Tellaro has a valve and winterizing tee just downline of the valve- so that's where I add my AF, and only uses about 1 gal. I never add AF to my tank b/c it takes a lot to get that odor/taste out in the springtime.

You can add this to your TT and make life easier next time- just install downline of tank- shuts of water from tank and gives you a port for adding the AF w/o filling the tank:

Just remember to fill tank with water in springtime, and open the valve to flush the AF out. I Added one to my Rialta and forgot to open the valve- made me scratch my head for an hour or so... then I remembered.
Good luck!

You have air in the pump, bleed it out and try again
Let it run long enough to clear the air also, might take a few minutes

Putting AF in the fresh water tank is a bad practice. I hope it was empty when you added AF, but even then it takes several gallons of AF to blend with the residual water in the tank and get it up to a usable concentration. Then next spring it takes lots of flushing to get the antifreeze out of the tank.

Most MHs have a three way valve and a short length of tubing sometimes called a winterizing riser. Hook up a 3’ length of tubing to it and put the other end in a jug of AF. Turn the three way valve 1/4 turn and open a faucet. The water pump will then pull AF from the jug. It takes ne about two gallons of AF to get a strong pink color from each fixture.

Then disconnect the tubing and return the three way valve to its original position. Next spring all you have to do is fill the tank and open each fixture and flush a few gallons through.

BTW, I add a cupful of AF to each drain to make sure the p trap is full of AF. I also leave the black and grey drains open for the winter. And don’t forget the outside shower.

If the water tank was empty it would take 7-10 gallons just for the pump to prime. You don't have enough pink juice in the tank...and...you should not put it in the fresh water tank.

I would start my removing water filter and sanitizing my entire fresh water system ( assuming it is not freezing now)

If it is freezing now and urgent I would simply drain everything including gas heater; and then use the blow out method until you see, feel and hear air coming out of every fixture. Take out strainer filter at the pump.

Pour a cup of AF into each P trap, call it a day and you are done.

If you have time to tinker and wish to play like a dealer the you can figure out that how trailer allows you to put the AF in the supply line. Some coaches, have a Winterizing valve that when turned and pump is on, it was suck the AF out of the bottle and fill your supply line. I have this, but I never use. I only blow dry and pour AF in pink traps. I winterize 3 or 4 times a year based on demands and sub freezing temps in the forecast. I have not had to winterize this winter just yet.
