Full Hook Up Near Yosemite National Park

Thor ACE 33.1 pulling a Jeep Rubicon. Any recommendation for a Full Hook-Up CG Nearest to the gate of Yosemite National Park? We will be coming from Las Vegas area. He have only been to this park once, over 15 years ago. Before we start RV life. Looking for a short 4 day trip during our son's school spring break (in 2 weeks). Might be difficult as it is too close to our travel date. Just want to see what options are available based on your CG experience.

All the RV campgrounds near Yosemite sound like crap according to most of the reviews that I read when trying to book near Yosemite a couple months ago. Many are very dusty with no grass from the extended drought.

I opted for the Black Oak Casino. We will be staying there in early June as we work our way up towards Washington and the start of our tip to Alaska.

Downside is it is about 43 - 45 miles from the Park entrance at Big Oak Flat. But after reading reviews about one place closer where a mountain lion came down regularly and campers weren't warned and a dog was killed... then other places that were just a mess.... or very tight spaces... or very unlevel, I decided to book here. It looks very nice from the pictures and cheap at $70/night considering the amenities.

If you are coming from Vegas, the Tioga Pass Entrance would be closer for you. I didn't look over there since we were coming up from Joshua Tree and Sequoia.

Black Oak like Jackson Rancheria RV Park, Jackson is too far for you, are well kept Indian casino RV parks. Never a problem. At Jackson, they do have warning signs about being ware of wildlife. Cougars, Coyote, dear, turkeys, and other wild life can be dangerous. Signs are on the way to the dog runs and the path around the RV park. We always see fresh Coyote scat every morning going around the RV park path. I have only seen dear and turkeys in the day time and heard the coyotes at night. They seem to avoid getting close to people like at Quartzsite, AZ.

Yosemite is indefinitely closed currently due to heavy snow

Certainly, it will be wet when you are there

Black Oak that I booked is in Tuolumne, which is ~43 miles away from Yosemite. Jackson is over 90 miles away.

It will be interesting to hear your comments after your visit as to crowds and how they are handled.

Great place to visit

I did not think about this. Thanks for the reminder. That may change our travel plan for spring break. Coming up in 2 weeks.

If plans change, Death Valley with Lone Pine and the Alabama Hills could be a possible alternative if coming from Vegas. Furnace Creek in Death Valley is full service.

Our next trip there will include "Star Wars" canyon. Hopefully the military will be flying.

From the south, off of 41, the Yosemite RV Resort is about 40 min south of the south entrance and Mariposa Grove (1 hr from there to the valley). I’ve never been there. The Bass Lake at Yosemite RV Resort is ok and about the same distance from Yosemite (about 20 minutes off of hwy 41).

Here’s Yosemite Falls sign from the news yesterday. Click image for larger version

We've stayed at Thousand Trails Yosemite Lakes twice and loved it. As Thousand Trails members, we were able to get great spots right on the river. Non-members can book there, campsites are not far from the river.

It's about 6 mi/10 min from the entrance to the park. There's a gas station and convenience store at the turn in to the campground.

We have stayed here. You will be about 60 to 90 minutes from the valley floor.

With the amount of snow falling in the area (we have friends in South Lake Tahoe) it is most likely that the Tioga Pass will not yet be open.
Just say'n!

Thanks for the suggestions folks. Like what other had suggested, probably not a good time to go to Yosemite right now because of the recent snow. I am writing down all of the suggested places and will plan for summer time. For now, we will just spend few days in Zion NP for Spring Break.
