Dometic AC only operates on generator power
2013 24SA Thor Siesta
Just when I thought I had corrected all the bugs, I attempted to start my Dometic generator today. I was hooked up to shore power. No dice. Light on control panel came on, but no action from the generator!
I started the generator and voila, AC! Help me troubleshoot this problem as its been scorching here in NH.... never used the AC before because we haven't needed it.
Thanks for your help!
Peter

I'm a bit confused with your terms of Dometic and generator. Are saying that your AC will not work on shore power, but works on generator power? If so, does anything else work on shore power? You may have a bad transfer switch or it could be loose wires at connection points not getting power from shore hookup. Maybe some others will chime in on ideas.

Have you used the microwave on shore power? Plugged anything into 120 VAC outlets on shore power?

I also am left wondering about what else isn't working...
... and I'm betting on the transfer switch being involved in the myster!
Please let us know what you find: good luck!

Yes, I would check the TS first and then see if it is getting power from shore power. After I fixed my TS burn-out, the next trip I was without shore power when hooking up at a campsite. Traced it to cracked and overheated shore power receptacle on side of coach. Pulled it off and found that the lugs were so loose that the wires slipped out. Fortunately, the receptacle was still usable and I tightened lugs back up and was ok until I got home and ordered a new one.
Never underestimate what Thor can't do.

If they had to pay us by the hour for re-building our rigs: they couldn't afford us!

Someone, maybe you Bob, said it right; when you buy a Thor you are buying a kit.

That wasn't me: I'm not that profound...
Although I can be rather profane!

My local RV guru concurs that the transfer switch probably has a gremlin. Interestingly, the only thing that doeasn'tfunction on shore power is the AC.
The case on the current transfer switch is broken so maybe its guts were scrambled.
Anyway, I ordered a new version of the same switch so installation should be smooth once I figger out how to get my hands in the compartment. I'm a retired dentist so I'm accustomed to working with a mirror
Cheers, Peter

Not sure how or where it is located in the Siesta, but when I re-wired mine, it was easier to do it off the mounting frame.
Good luck with your job.

Should we all try talking to you with our mouths wide open?
Good luck with the surgery!
