Sorry BD

I sold my trailer and Smart Car and now flat tow a 2012 Jeep Liberty Sport. Could not be happier with my new toad and would recommend a Jeep for flat towing. Do your due diligence when getting a used Jeep as some can not be flat towed. There are plenty of websites that will answer the ? As to which Jeep models and years can be flat towed. I found mine at a Jeep dealer in my town with only 92k on it and in showroom condition. Good Luck from drau2th and his 2017 Thor Vegas.

You didn't mention what you would be towing the Jeep with. My experience when trying to decide on a tow vehicle was that Jeep's are easily towed, but... even though they look small, they are Heavy Vehicles. And re-sale prices are NUTS! They are "popular" so they seem to be expensive, even with lots of miles on them! I was finding 10 year old Jeeps with 150k miles selling for $10-$15 grand!! Not for me!! I went with a Chevy Sonic... Light weight... Warranty is NOT voided when used as a Towed Vehicle... Great Mileage... Lot's of comfortable room!

Read my response CAREFULLY

I listed what I tow my Jeep with at the end of my previous post. I looked at Sonics but found them lacking in room, power and 4WD. As my Buddy Bob Denham posted “Its a Jeep Thing”. If your Happy with your Sonic than that’s all that matters. Ray. PS-My Thor Vegas has more than adequate towing capacity to pull my Jeep behind it.

Here's my suggestion. Don't discount a Jeep Wrangler but don't get one so old. Also look for BONE STOCK. Avoid jacked up, aftermarket stuff, etc. Look for one bone stock. I previously towed a 2012 Wrangler and it's very easy to connect and get going. I usually hooked up by myself while she did other things to get ready to travel. I also installed most of the towing components. Should you need a something, parts are easy to get and the Jeep is easy to work on. While likely that many modified all dicked up Jeeps never left the pavement, some have beat to death in a short time.

Don't worry: nobody is perfect!
Good luck with your Liberty. We've owned 3 of them...

Defying the laws of physics and reason, my '02 Wrangler only gets 2 more mpg than our motorhome.
Fortunately it's only used for short excursions from base camp of usually less than 30 miles. Bonus is it's great for scoping out sketchy rutted roads before venturing in with the motorhome. No worries of getting stuck or finding a place to turn around.
