Behind the wall plate where the cable connects I would make sure everything is more than finger tight. I found my connections were very loose. I would also buy a "gold" spliter and change out the one that came with your unit. The splitter should be somewhere close to the wall plate.

Ask any cable TV technician; the "Gold" splitters are crap, the silver splitters are the better ones.
