I made a bracket out of a 2x4 that looks like an upside-down U. I positioned it about half way in the compartment and then put some thin door shims (I had a few of them in a box that I found) under the legs and ran a wood screw through the bottom of the compartment into the legs to keep it from sliding around. I'll try to get a picture of it later and put on here. It looks a bit crappy but if it works then who cares?
