Each of these areas has so much to see and do.
If you do go to Asheville, there is the Biltmore Estate to see built by the railroad tycoon.
Leaving Asheville, you could do the Blue Ridge Parkway going south, nice scenic drive.
Or, take US74 south to Cherokee, NC, to the casinos, and campgrounds. (I-40 is out of the way to Gatlinburg)
Once in Cherokee, go through the Great Smoky Mountains taking you into Gatlinburg.

Somewhere in between there is Maggie Valley, NC on US19.
The Wheels Through Time museum is a popular destination if you like motorcycles.

This would be a lot of mountain driving, the RV will make it all, more fun by motorcycle or sports car though.
74 is more sweeping and straight on the way through.

Beware of the Tail of the Dragon - US 129, between Robbinsville, NC and Maryville, TN. (Pronounced: mair-a-vul)
The RV & Toad will not make it through there and big trucks are banned from it.
Very tight switchback curves upon one another, 318 curves in 11 miles.

Of course, there is even more to see if you want to get into the northern Georgia mountains, like Helen, and or Dahlonega (pronounced dah-lah-nah-gah).
Or Stone Mountain outside of Atlanta.
