I too will be towing my car on a flat bed. Seeing that the overall weight will be close, I chose to go with a 20 foot custom flatbed trailer with a storage winddam in front of it. The total weight of the trailer came out to be about 1500 lbs. Yes, my car will be out in the open as it goes down the road on the trailer...but then when I'm driving it down the road it's always out in the open without any protection whatsoever, so a flat bed trailer works fine for me and I save the extra weight.
