The coach battery starts the generator.
When I run it it sits: I walk around and make sure the exhaust pipes are sticking out from the cover and start both. After the V-10 comes up to operating temp I run it at about 1500 RPM for a bit to make sure the batteries are charged up.
To exercise the genny I simply set the convection oven to preheat to 350 or so. That puts enough draw on it (12+ amps). (Especially when its 0F out since it has a long way to go to get to 350! LOL) In fact that is the most use the convection oven gets! (Sometime's I'll use a hairdryer instead.)
