We use a 16 foot patio mat like DocMike mentioned. Have had it for 10 years. Sometimes we use it folded in half. These woven plastic mats won't blow in the wind, but they do have grommets that you could stake. It lets sand and rain through. We bought ours at an RV show, and there are many vendors online.
