If both tongue weights are within reason its a perfectly viable option.
It does look odd but that guy is who you want to be with you in a pinch.
Has anyone seen the swing hitches((?
They mount up by the differential and a long bar swings in an ark and telescopes out the back of the vehicle .
I've only seen one in real life. Supposedly you need only get your trailer close, move the hitch head until it hooks up, pull forward a bit to straighten and then insert two pins.
