Puts and takes on both sides of the equation but helping me brake the speed on my 14 ton monster rolling down a 6% grade is fairly important to me.

There was an excellent detail report, on the Airstream forum by Wayward, of the 6R140 transmission coupled to the 6.2L V8. While it doesn't apply directly to the F-53 with V10, it suggests that the transmission can do a great job downshifting to provide engine braking (at least as programmed for F-Series SuperDuty).
I really like the two manual shifting modes which may not be available on F-53 or E-Series. Reported fuel economy while pulling the Airstream was pretty good too.
