The redline for all models of the Triton V-10 is 5,200 rpm. This is based not on the engine per-say, but the speed of the counterbalance shaft located under the valley cover. Many complain of the split pin crank design, but it has proven reliable of it 200,000 mile design life. With max power of 320 @ 3,900 rpm, you will never see the engine approach this rpm when acceleration. If you approach this rpm limit in a low gear of the transmission when descending a steep grade, the transmission will up-shift, regardless of the position of the shift lever.
