IMHO unless your vehicle specifies using synthetic oil I think all the "will increase horsepower & fuel mileage " or " don't change oil as often" is hype & expensive. If you want to use it fine, just don't fall for the bs.
I wouldn't say using synthetic is BS, a far cry from that. Synthetics tend to be a oil that resist shearing and breaking down with over temp. The base stock is formed with different chemicals and added to dino oil. Hence why all modern transmissions spec synthetic oil. Even though I have never over temp either engine or transmission, using synthetic oil will allow extended intervals. It's really not that much more to use synthetic over conventional.
Added note, I didn't receive any owners manual for my chassis....
