I'm gonna be upgrading my system soon. The coach only came with a rear camera, and I did buy two nice side-view cameras that I plan on installing sometime this year.
I really don't want the side-view cameras coupled to the turn signals though. I plan on putting in a 4-way switch (i.e. joystick) on the driver's side door so that I can control the cameras.
I really want the cameras to be controlled independently of the turn signals and reverse gear, as I might want to look to the right or left without having to turn on the turn signal.
So, I am planning on the following functions:
UP (forward switch) - return display to normal (use the reverse wire).
LEFT (left camera)
RIGHT (right camera)
DN (back camera)
I do have one of these on order, but it will be a couple of weeks before it ships. I am not sure if I can modify it for my needs or not.
CSP - SecurView? SV-900.CSB
If not, out comes the Arduino parts box, as this would be a very simple project.
And this is the switch I want to use:
And I also have one of these on order:
I am thinking I can put the switch on top of this mount and attach it to the side of the door panel.
Also, I did find that for my coach, the interior paint color is called "Medium Pebble", sort of a mid-tan. Color Bond has an exact matching paint for it, which is what I will paint the box if I use it.
Or I will make my own box. I once made this box out of epoxy/fiberglass for mounting a VHF radio on one of my boats:
Lot of work involved in such boxes, but it can be done.
I am glad the weather is turning nicer as my "creative" personality needs to go outside and play.
