Angry Whirlpool microwave

The last few days a lot of times when we open the door of our microwave the light doesn't go on and sometimes when we try to start it tells us to close the door when it's closed and we have to close it many times to get it to work. Any ideas?

Both sound like the symptoms of a sticky latch - not recognizing that it has been opened or closed...
I need to take a closer look at my unit (too late here now) - but would try to clean/lubricate the moving parts of the door latch and exercise it.

No help here but we battled the exact problem last year. Finally the microwave just decided to cooperate on its own. Haven't had the issue since.

Just wondering if you corrected the problem. Experienced the same issue yesterday and after a few hours it corrected itself again.

Like gmc said, probably a sticky latch. Look at the door and the latching parts on the frame and see if you might have gotten some crud in there. Give it a little shot of silicone spray.

It lasted about a week then it corrected itself. I also had tried silicone spray and it didn't seem to help.

The problem with the microwave has been solved. It started doing it again and again, I mentioned to a man in the park that used to be electronics teacher he said it’s probably a micro switch and said he had one on his workbench he came over and replace the switch. It took about 1/2 hour, there is a panel on the right side when you open the door and all the stuff is behind it. There’s two different switches mine was the bottom one, it’s a easy fix. If you buy the switch it’s about $5.00. Now it’s been about a month and all is good.

Thanks for the update. It helps us armchair diagnosticians.
Be well.
