2019 Ford Ranger

Does anyone know if the new Ford Ranger is four-down towable? The 4x4 model.

You are in luck since the owner's manual has been leaked online:

Saw a couple of Manufacturer plated Rangers going down the highway last week. They look great and are larger than the old Ranger was.

I think they even have the "model" Ranger parked in front of the plant now as well.

I don’t know about relative size, but it is certainly a lot more powerful than the old Ranger I had. Mine also had a 2.3-liter (completely different engine) without turbo, and only made 100 HP. Even so it was a great little truck and fun to drive.

The new ones have nearly 3 times more power and torque out of same 2.3L displacement. And tow rating with GCWR up to 12,500 pounds (or 7,500 pound trailer) is far more than the old Rangers like mine. Should be a nice not-so-little truck.

I ordered the 4.0L V6 with both of the Ranger's I had (a '93 Splash and a '98 flare side extended cab). We were able to pull our first travel trailer all over the place with that '98.

4.0L V6: 207 HP / 238 lb-ft torque.

Hmm..I was hoping that they would be somewhere near the physical size/weight of the old Courier/Ranger with a small diesel 4 banger... Oh Whell....Will just keep what we have..

So if the Ranger is making a return: where's the Bronco?

It’s a little surprising that the US version doesn’t offer the 3.2-liter inline 5-cylinder diesel that is offered in many parts of the world. Ford has the 3.2L engine in the Transit vans here, so they must have though the more powerful 4-cylinder EcoBoost gasser would do better.

Perhaps they may be waiting until they switch out the 3.2L I-5 with the new 2.0L I-4. The 2.0 diesel seems to be the future replacement for the old inline-5.

P.S. — I you’re sold on Ford, you may want to research the future Courier that is smaller. As a unibody (and maybe FWD) it’s probably less rugged, but may be good enough for what you need.

The amazing part of the manual is that nearly 100 pages are devoted to audio and Sync. In a way it’s sad that people are becoming less interested in driving and more focused on entertainment while on the road. I suppose the shift is inevitable as we transfer towards autonomous autos.

Actually Ford has only released a teaser image of the Bronco and thus Bob's image isn't "real":

At least as of October 13, 2018.

The teaser image:
