Thermostat change out from analog to digital

needing help has anyone changed out the analog thermostat to digital on Thor axis , I changed out my analog to digital when replacing wire per wire the yellow was connected to red about 2” and the red wire was a stub not connected to anything , where is the wire suppose to connect to . Please help, everything works but unsure about the compressor due to the temps where around 40 degree outside. So I couldn’t check the compressor

Digital holds a much tighter temperature range. Dumping the old analog thermostat and going digital is a good move.

I was just going to ask why folks changed these so often: yoiu must have been reading my mind!

Just like a comic book: ain't it?

But thanks for the answer.

Got a cheap $20 or so Hunter installed and working. Need to add a switch so I can select the hi/lo A/C fan setting, a little rooting in the shed should turn one up.
The model is 42999B. Here is a video link that includes adding the hi/lo fan speed switch.

I upgraded my thermostats last year. Great easy upgrade. Keeps temperature steady. A/C and heat come on within a few degrees of set point and turn off at the right temp. No more wild swings. I got the digital version of the Coleman Mach. A little more expensive, but imho worth it. All the wire colors match, no need to add a micro switch for the fan, even the screw holes in the wall matched up. 5 minutes tops.

I went to the Coleman Mach website, found my thermostat in the catalog, then found the matching digital version, googled the digital model number and ordered them. I think I got mine off amazon.

Anti-freeze

I use my camper year-round so don't winterize. The digital thermostat, unlike the analog one, goes way down so I use it as a back-up to my small space heaters. I set it on 36 and forget it. The Coleman 83303862 Digital Thermostat was the exact fit replacement on my 2017 Windsport.

Changed mine out today in the ACE 30.3. I used the Coleman Mach model (8330-3862) that matches up with the old analog one. The wires were identical colors, and the screw holes were the same, so was a simple install. Took me about 10 minutes. Everyone else who had used it said it was a two degree range - that is exactly what I got. With heat on and temp set to 73, it turned on at 72 and shut off at 74. With A/C on I set temp to 72. It turned on at 73 and off at 71. I'm anxious to get on our next trip (three weeks from now) and see how it maintains the cabin comfort through the night without all the swings.

Ray did a later video where he changed out the Hunter thermostat with a Honeywell. In the video he talks about why he decided to replace the Hunter.

I replaced my Coleman Mach thermostat with the Honeywell. I found Ray's toggle switch to be a bit too industrial and found a more attractive switch on Amazon
