Day 17. Hershey
We split from Jaime and family this morning. They are now heading north through New Jersey, New York, with a final destination if Maine. Then they will head for home. I don't know their route but know Jaime has to be back at work on June 28. I'm so glad I'm retired
Back to Maria and I now
Nice quick 1-1/2 hour drive not counting the outlet stores. Very little rain once we got going
Hersey Park cg very wooded with slight hills. They have a free bus ride to Hershey Chocolate World (HCW). Hershey also has an amusement park. We didn't do that.
HCW is really just for kids. We did the works. An interactive movie, chocolate tasting with actors emceeing it, trolling ride through town explaining the Hershey history, and then make your own chocolate bar. Also ate lunch there
The sell everything here, clothes, cups, etc and of course chocolate. Surprisingly the chocolate was cheap. But after seeing my fat gut in the many pics and refused to buy any .
Milton Hershey is an interesting guy that gave everything to help orphan kids and help the city he created. I recommend you do a google search on him a read a bit about him. Good to know there are/were some very given people in this world
That was our day

Day 18. Flatwood KOA in Sutton West Virginia
Woke up before the alarm and decided to get and go. Today was 310 miles. Most of this was through, what I would call big hills, but I think the locals would say mountains. No idea what they were called. Blue Ridge Mountain, Smokey Mountains???? Whatever the name it was a pretty site to see. Maria slept through most of it. It got cold driving through. 50* was the lowest I saw. Actually had to turn the heater on the dash. My feet were cold
We stopped for early lunch at Cracker Barrel, our new favorite place. I bought my soon to be granddaughter a little outfit then back on the road. At flatwood we stopped at Walmart for a few supplies then the cg. Nice place on top of a hill. Sites are big and they have a huge amphitheater here
There's a windsport here, first I've seen on the trip and I'm still looking for a hurricane.
Doing some laundry now. Might go say hi to the windsport when I'm done

You're not too far from me, about an hour and a half or so north of here. If you travel south on US 19, you will cross the New River Gorge Bridge, an engineering marvel. In October the bridge is shut down for Bridge Day, on that day the small town of Fayetteville becomes the largest town in W. Va. Base jumping is allowed only on this day. People who jump the rest of the year are charged with illegal air entry in a national park.

If you ever get the chance, Bridge Day is something to see. Usually 2 to 3 hundred base jumpers, each one usually makes 2 or 3 or more jumps. I personally can't see jumping off a perfectly good bridge or airplane for that matter.

Well the cg is very woodsy but this place needs lots of work. The sites are gravel and not level at all. But we're parked. We are here until Monday. Tomorrow we drive to have lunch with Maria's cousin. A mexican restaurant about 15 minutes from here. After that we might check out the Ark Experience. An Ark made to the bibles specs
Suppose to start raining soon and not stop until Thursday. That means I get wet hooking to jeep up the the mh
Rain is expected all through our Nashville and Memphis time. Hopefully it stops by the time I get to Amarillo
I plan on doing a big breakfast Saturday morning on the blackstone. Want to start the birthday celebration early

We were white water rafting one year on Bridge day. It was a cool perspective.

With all the heavy rain we had I was thinking how happy I was with no leaks. Well after it stopped Maria found some drips on the dash. Damn!!!!! Looks like the front cap area
After lunch and meeting Maria's cousin the rain stopped. Drove back to the mh and I climbed up on the roof with dicor ready to put on the cracks or tears. We did hit a couple low tree branch's
I couldn't find a single crack. Front cap good. Sides good. Checked all vents. Everything good
So I'll keep an eye on it. We are expecting rain in Nashville and Memphis. Hopefully no more leaks
