Sioux City Iowa

Here we sit in Sioux City at the city RV park with the swollen Missouri River about 15 feet from our RV. There is still almost half of the campground under water!

Tried loading a picture but a relatively slow internet won’t allow it.

That's a little too close for comfort! I would be having nightmares something like this:

The water levels are very slowly decreasing. Almost an inch since we parked. If the rains don’t come back things should continue to improve.

It looks like more rain in the forecast for upper Midwest

Several years back I planned a trip from NC to CA via KY. Once on the road the banks of the Mighty Mississippi overflowed and it was darn near impossible to cross the Mississippi. Had to drive from northern KY to central LA border before I could cross over.

On return trip 3 weeks later I was able to use I-40 to return to NC. After getting east of Little Rock you could see flooded land on both sides of I-40 and what appeared to be animals floating belly up.

Needless to say I drove with the windows closed shut and didn't stop for anything but gas until I was on the east side of the Mississippi.

It was pretty nasty Cal. By the way, thank you for your service, I was an ATC and retired in 1988.
