I checked on a 5 passenger Class C and here is what cruise America quoted for a 1 week trip, 800 Miles, returning to rental site:
Dates: 11.17.17 - 11.24.17
RV size: C25 Standard
Location: Temple, GA
Daily rate of $92.86 x 7 days = $650.02 with a free night
Mileage rate of 35˘ X 800 miles = $280.00
Subtotal: $837.16
Tax amount: $58.60
Total with tax: $895.76
Refundable security deposit: $500.00

The insurance would probably go up. And best to report it as renter in case of accident.

There was a company with a booth at the Tampa RV show that was promoting renting your RV. There are some on the web, too, like RVShare and Outdoorsy. This might be a viable option, but I would keep my expectations low to start!

It seem's like out west there are more rental RV's on the road than those not marked as rentals. It never occurred to me that some of those not marked as rental could in fact be. I asked a couple of people driving rentals what it was costing and the figures given in this thread are very close.

You don't even have to lay on the flashy graphics... unless you really want to!

Renting in Texas the cost is approximately the same also. The most I've spent was just under $3,000 for 3 weeks.
For those who only use their motorhomes occassionally, I think the cost is reasonable compared to ownership (based on +/- $1,000/month).
Renting trailers is roughly half that, and normally not subject to mileage charges so cheaper on longer trips.
