You will need a base plate, tow bar, safety chains or cables, lighting hook up and and a braking system for your jeep.

I used Roadmaster. 6 bolts, no drilling no removing bumper. Very easy install

Bolt on vs Weld on base plates

What are everyone's thoughts on bolt-on vs weld-on base plates?

Any concerns with the safety/strength of the bolt-ons?

My local hitch guy says the bolt-ons are not good (obviously he wants to charge major $$ to weld on).

I'm really leaning towards the Roadmaster base plate and the Hercules (newer version of the ReadyBrute) tow bar w/ integrated surge brake.

Towing a 2016 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited w/ a 2016 Hurricane 29M.

I used a bolt-on Roadmaster baseplate on my 2017 Wrangler Unlimited. It fit very snugly and the bolts are still tight as ever. I have driven about 13,000 with this toad and no problems whatsoever.

I have used bolt on base plater on five different toads the last 23 years of rving. Never had one fail and haven’t heard of one failing. I would trust a bolt on over a welded one. Sounds like someone wants some extra money to me.

Worked great, bought trailer light wiring kit at auto parts store $10 plugged into hitch on back of jeep ran wire along frame rail to front bumper wired to blue ox plug on bumper ,done electric runs backwards thru jeep to brake and running lights quick cheap and easy.
