Yep, thats on my list of improvements. I was going to remove the entire assembly and use the flex seal to make the area inside water tight (or at least try to prevent damage from water). Did you look behind and check out the wood for damage?
I might also upgrade to LED bulbs - still looking - too many to pick from.

These are what I replaced mine with. You can order them for a Thor unit so you plug them in directly to the factory wiring. I used butyl rubber sealing tape around the edges instead of the foam sponge gasket, ss screws with rubber O-rings and finally used RV Flex sealer around the edges. So far, no moisture is getting in. The old ones had moisture but no rotting of the wood and of course, broken rusty screws.
