Water Heater Drain

Thanks for all the advice, guys. The 15/16 socket and extension did the trick. I had to pry up that cross piece a bit (what were the engineers/designers thinking?)
I like pstandiford's idea of the reducer/ball valve/ short hose line. I think I'll give that a try.
