Found someone at 5 Star. Here's what I was told.

The hardware is still usable and about 1 to 2yrs old, based on the model number. You'll burn a lock because it's a different vehicle (VIN). Its Unmarried so you're ok there. L&W is correct in that if the engines are different it won't work. You'll have to order a new tune to the tune of $125 so add that to the cost. Email tunes are free after that and the HW can be used on 3 more vehicles (VINs) before you pay to have it 'unlocked' (max is 5 vehicles, tunes are $125ea unless engines are same, then you only burn a lock).

Unless the price drops to 175 or 200 - for a total of 3 or 325 for a different motor config - it may only be cost-justified to people who have the same engine he does/did.
