We stayed a night at Ho Hum, along the Gulf last week. It is all gravel, no grass, full hookups with cable TV. Right along the water front, a nice dock but no beach there. If you want a beach, you need to go a little farther, like on East to Port St Joe or Mexico Beach. Lots to do in the Destin area and the beaches in that area are fabulous.
After Thanksgiving, the snowbirds start to fill the campgrounds in Florida. Reservations are strongly recommended, especially on weekends.
Next time you are near Ormond Beach, try Bulow Resort, also an Encore park.
We usually pass on truck stops and rest areas because of the noise and security concerns. We use an app called RVParky to find cgs and free overnight parking.
