Nitro tires
Not finding a posting on this subject. Turns out my new Crossroads TT has nitro filled tires. I have no experience with this type of tire. Can I add regular air to my tires or do I need to fine a place that carries nitro?

My DH has nitrogen in his camaro tires. While adding nitrogen is preferable, air is acceptable. The nitrogen is meant to last longer and give better performance. Hadn't heard of putting it in trailer tires yet. This Website may offer some answers for you.

My 2013 Crossroads Z1 came with nitrogen filled tires. So far the pressure has remained exactly at the correct pressure. This is one of the advantages of nitrogen, virtually no pressure changes due to temperature and less natural leakage. If you need to add pressure it would be best to add nitrogen but you can add air with no worries. If you add air it will degrade the positive effects of nitrogen and bring the results of air only tires. Hope this helps.

The nitrogen has nothing to do with performance ( well maybe for running cooler) if you have the larger tire and travel elevation the nitrogen may help there , specially if you have 22.5 tires and you’re rolling down the road at 65 when it’s 105° out. The nitrogen does not expand as much and keeps the tires cooler and yes you can add Regular air pressure if needed. Or you can rent and nitrogen tank keep it in your garage and air up as you need

Nitro molecules are the larger part (78%) of oxygen (22%) and move slower. Advantage of nitro filled tires is that it doesn’t escape as fast as 100% oxygen and it also doesn’t allow moisture build up inside of tire during up/down heating/cooling. Yes, you can use straight air in nitro filled tires.

I'm too cheap to pay for filling my tires with nitrogen.
Instead: I use "Nitrogen Light"... It's about 78% pure nitrogen.

I bet it’s a real drag getting that air hose connected to that can of nitro light and not spilling any.

Exactly. You beat me to it.
Also, runs cooler.
For those nonbelievers they also help lift the rv so there’s less weight.

FWIW, my previous Open Range TT had nitrogen filled tires. I thought it was a sales gimmick. Sold it two years later and never had to add a single pound of air to any of the tires. Maybe it works...maybe I just had good luck. Who knows...

Where do you get it, and what would be a reasonable cost for it?

Cleaner than filtered compressed air - No
What about the rubber deteriorating on the OUTSIDE of the tire?
Nitrogen expands just like all other gasses in response to temperature - so I believe Boyle would argue that point with you.
How could they run cooler than an air filled tire at the same pressure? Does nitrogen push the heat from friction out the back door?
But you do get a pretty green cap for your money. Maybe they'll put a pretty green sign on your bridge too.

My Wife didn't notice. I took the Green Caps off her Range Rover.
I put them on the Axis and now the Axis handles much better.
