Cockpit curtain
Has anyone installed a curtain to separate the drivers cockpit from the rest of the coach to keep in the heat or AC

First mod I did. I used:
This track: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 screwed to ceiling every foot. Fits perfectly from one side to the other.
These drapes: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Perfect size floor to ceiling and 2 panels completely cut off the cockpit from the rest of the coach. The are also white on the cockpit side.
These Carriers: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Just sewed them to the edge of the curtain with the supplied elastic; space them about 8" apart.
This mod keeps the AC in the cockpit while traveling, and the AC in the living area while camping. Even with reflective shields in the front windows a lot of heat comes in through the cockpit area while camping.

One of the things we've been told is the key is to keep the heat from ever getting INTO the coach -- stopping it, if possible, outside. So using reflective shields on the inside isn't as effective as using them on the outside.
We have Magneshades, and while they're pricey, we felt they were worth the expense since we live & camp largely in So. California. They work well! If we were ever in an area where the heat was intolerable we could use the reflective shields between the Magneshade and the window on the outside. I bet the difference would be even more effective.

Yes, they are pricey but are worth it for what they achieve. We especially like them because we can see out and catch the view from the big Axis windshield. I am thinking of getting the folding inside curtains for the side windows too.

I did it first thing after buying the mh. But removed them. The chassis air cools just fine and when camping blocking off the front of the mh took away a lot of space. I have the rod and curtains in the overhead bunk so i can reinstall if needed. But i dont think it will get used.
The idea was good but really not needed imho

we used a pvc pipe, tucked in next to the bunk mattress, 2 decorative shower curtains and cableties, could be a bit longer but helps considerably

We did the same with the PVC and the drop down bunk. We tried several versions of curtains. Currently we are using 84inch (2) room darkening curtains from bed bath and beyond. Works well during drives in the Fl heat and once parked to cut down on the heat the sun generates on all the cab windows when parked.
Still working on other mods for better air but that’s another thread.

Welcome to the forum and thanks for your input!
We have car reflective windshield shades that we use in all the small windows, even when traveling if the sun is intense. And we have a big one that we use in the front when parked toward the sun. They are nowhere near as effective as the Magna Shade, but a fraction of the cost.
I've considered a curtain behind the cab area in our Vegas, but instead have cranked up the genny when the chassis A/C can't quite keep up. Usually this is after being parked awhile in the midday sun, or when idling. Appreciate halfprice's comments and suspect our results might be similar.

We used a large tension curtain rod and black out curtains. Installed just behind the chairs. Works great really cuts down the heat. Only issue is you have to remove them to use the overhead bunk.

to further JEDSMOM comment...you are better to stop the heat before it enters the coach. We purchased the Magnashades as well and they work remarkably plus during the day you can see out but people cannot see in. The are not the cheapest but they help with keeping the coach WAY cooler and AC running less.

We have a curtain behind the chairs and it works well on a hot day to keep the cab AC air in the cab area. We have reflective window shades for use when parked, but the curtain can also be put behind the chairs when they are turned around and help keep heat out of the living area.

Thanks!
I do know that I am a very fortunate man; who married WAY beyond what I should have been able to!
Since she made these: she upgraded them with a much stouter rod.
