Locking gas cap

We have a 2019 Thor 29m motorhome. We are looking for a locking gas cap. I went to the local auto parts stores and they could not help me.

All I need is a part number and I can get one ordered. Gas prices these days are requiring us to lock up the goods

I had that happen when I was in college - oh so long ago! Somebody drilled a hole in my tank for the gas. I guess it was easier or quicker than siphoning from the filler. They didn’t get much as I was so poor I rarely had more than about a quarter of a tank but I was left trying to repair the tank with epoxy. Didn’t work all that well…..

It is cheaper to replace the gas than to replace the gas tank after someone drills it to steal gas. Let them steel the gas and do something drastic if you catch them so they won’t do it again.

Order a couple different ones from Amazon. See which fits and return the ones that don't.

It took me about a year to finally buy a locking fuel cap. My apprehension was it not fitting and the fuel cap sensor coming on.

Most auto parts dealers don't know how to help. I decided to just start buying them like CHS suggested. I went into Advance Auto Parts and gave them the specifications for my engine. The first cap I bought worked.

Like CHS said, just start trying and return what doesn't work.

There is also an anti siphone spring that can be installed into the pipe.

The naked, incomplete chassis sent to Thor comes with the filler neck and gas cap attached, tied to the frame for body company to install in their desired position. Call a Ford dealer.

As Gritz stated if your motorhome chassis is a E??? Ford, F??? Ford, 3500 Sprinter, MB, etc., either class A or C, ask for a gas cap for that vehicle not for a XYZ motorhome, auto parts stores have no clue about motorhomes.

we have a 2017 30.3. went to o reilly auto store told rep the chassis (Ford...). he was able to x reference to a Stant locking fuel cap10504 for $17.31 out he door. fits great!

I'd rather have them siphon my gas then to replace my fuel tank from thieves punching a hole in it.

We've had two friends have their tanks punched recently! I'd rather deal with a siphoned one than a punched one! My friends would LOVE to catch the thieves and whip them with the hoses they used ...in both cases they left them hanging from the tanks!
