suitecase solar hook up question

I have a suitcase solar panel that is small. Can a solar be connected to the battery terminals to keep the batteries charged while sitting in the yard and awaiting the next trip?

My Rv sit out in the field, plenty of sum and no power in the field. So I wanted advice on using the solar to keep the house batteries to keep them fully charges

I would think it would be like a trickle charge. My thought is I could leave on the camper and let it just get as much charge to the battery as it may.

I assume i can put the clamps on the positive and negative terminals as one would to jump a battery or connect a charger. Is that correct?

Honestly I have not opened the panels up yet nor read the directions yet. Just reaching out. My rig is not set up to plug in solar and not sure if that is necessary either.

Thanks

Do you have a solar controller?

To expand a bit, many suitcase panels have the solar controller built in which is ok to connect to the batteries. But some do not and you need a solar controller between the panels and the batteries.

I've got a small 40 watt solar suitcase, and it keeps my chassis battery fully-charge. It came with a built-in Zamp controller.
Oh! The coach batteries are hooked up toi shore-power.
