Water heater tip
Just a tip when replacing your water heater anode and flushing it out. Tape a trash bag under the anode with the ends of the bag sloped up. Tape the bottom to keep it in place. Doing this ensures that no crap gets into the water locker’s hinge, not to mention on the rig. The water heater bib.

What’s the environmental impact? The trash bag when it dries gets reused as a trash bag or I can save it for the next anode change.

Can you reuse the tape? I stay in areas that don't eat my anode so I never change it. See how environmentally friendly I am???

No, I fold it over. I can use it as a trash bag or keep it for next time. This does not help you as you never change your anode.

Here is another tip that may help. Below is a HWH drain hose I have been using for a few years. Has worked out ok and gets the drain water off to the side of the door to the ground. It is made up of all off the shelf items. IIRC, at the end is a 1/2" ball valve with nipple, std. hose and 1/2" x 1 1/2" nipple into HWH. It stays folded in compartment when not used.

I am guessing you don't have an Anode.
On a Suburban WH the drain is the Anode.

You have a pic of the old Anode?
Did you use Aluminum or Magnesium?

Come to think of it, I didn't. When I first drained the tank, it was a nylon plug.
I get your point that the drain hose would not work with an anode.

I saw your earlier post and was going to do the same mod but then saw that someone else suggested just opening the low point drains and any faucet. As the lines drain so will the tank. And, at least in my case, the water inlet line is “lower” in the tank than the drain plug so you get more water out. And it leaves the nylon plug for easy removal when you want to use a wand to flush sediment.

I would guess the same thing as it looks like his Thor uses a different water then what they install in our DRVs.

Remember to turn the electricity OFF before draining the hot water heater. Not only for safety but also to help the bank account. If the tank is empty and the thermostat calls for heat the element will burn out very quickly.

Just be sure to use a brass or kinetic nipple with a brass valve in the tank as a galvanized or steel nipple will cause galvanic corrosion due to mixing dissimilar metals.
Great idea about using the trash bag!!
