There are owners of both on the forum and they can provide specifics.
Neither slides nor awnings should operate with the ignition switch on or the engine running. This is a safety feature to prevent them from extending while driving.
On my prior class C my awning extended while driving 55 MPH on I 95. Believe me when I say it is not a load of fun. The problem was the manufacture's installation instructions were wrong which caused the RV manufacture's to unknowingly bypass that safety feature. Dometic issued a recall but Forest River did not know which units had the problem and didn't notify owners.
Prior to buying the Challenger we walked away from the Hurricane because it did not pass my wife's crock pot test. The crock would not fit in the refrigerator.
