There are 2 of us that I know of on the forum that have had code 8 issues with slides.
My code 8 was caused when a slide motor came unplugged during the shakedown cruise. Like you I was unable to manually retract the slide, however, unlike you I had a mobile tech get me going again in 15 minutes the following morning.
If I remember correctly the other code 8 was caused by a weak slide motor. In that case the individual had to remove the motors from the slide before they could push the slide in and then reinstall the motors so they could get the coach back to their dealer for service.
In both our cases the override would not work because the slide would jam because one side was coming in further than the other because of one motor not working properly.
Have you talked to Lippert about your particular problem? Their number is 574-534-0001. Since the slide warranty is through them they may be able to assist quicker.
