50 AMP pwr connector

I purchased a 50 AMP pwr Y connector. I plug it into my post and the CB wont close. I have read that this will not work on GFI outlets. Any way to know if an outlet is GFI protected beside the decal? Only cost me 20$ at a garage sale.

Yep, 20.00 for junk that trips the breaker.

Then you splice 3+3 incoming wires to 4 wires out you are asking for trouble.

To answer your question - Every RV pedestal made since 1998 comes with a 20 amp, 120 volt GFCI duple receptacle. Electrical code require GFCI protected receptacles in wet areas, (basements, garages), outside and interior where the receptacle is within 6 feet from a water supply. New residential code requires combination arc fault and ground fault circuit interrupters. I would say this is a necessary upgrade to any RV you plan on sleeping in or have water on

Or stuck it in the garage sale because it's obsolete...

Agree with you. Truth be told, given that I had 30 amp shorepower available, I have never had any issues with my 50 amp coach. I worry if I only have 15/20 amp service. Toi take it a step further, more often than not, I will select a 30 amp site to save money per night. In Colorado, I had no shorepower at all. But I do have that big arse green thing at the rear of the coach. I figure I bought it when I bought the coach, so I why not use it

People buy those thinking they'll get 45 amps to their 50 amp coach. What they don't realize is your 50 amp couch has 2 legs of 50.amps each = 100 amps. That doodad if it were actually worth the $20, which it isn't, would only provide 45 amps split 2 ways to the couch, not much help over the single 30 amp plug even if it worked.
You'll find a lot of those at garage sales, now you know why...

More on the 50 AMP plug. My RV has a problem with the 50 AMP plug coming loose and rotating. Even with the collar full tight, the plug rotated over a few night stay, plugged in.

I have added witness stripes on my plug and receptacle to indicate movement. So it the white lines don't line up, it easily detectable.

I noticed this by the discolor of the white male plug end around one of the sockets. Internal wasn't shorted out or melted, I got lucky this time.
