Garmin Shut Down due to Ransom Ware

I tried updating my Garmin RV GPS a couple of days ago and kept getting a message that the update server could not be reached. Did a web search and found out that Garmin was hit with a Ransom Ware attack and everything is down to include their phone line. Now going on day three, at least, and no idea when the update server will be restored.

Yes, my Garmin Connect fitness watch has been down for the same period and my research turned up the same reason. Pretty frustrating. I expect they’ll sort it out though.

Apparently the issue has been resolved. I was able to update my GPS tonight.

That's relatively quick.

I updated mine about 2 days ago and wasn't taken hostage. Do you update the Garmin via your laptop?

If so consider moving this to another area on the forum.

No, my Garmin RV GPS is WIFI enabled and updates over the web. Since it is a portable RV GPS unit I believe I posted the info in the most appropriate area of the forum.

Technology is great... as long as it works!
Do you have any way to test the unit, and make sure that it is giving you accurate maps and directions?

I’m taking the Jeep in for service today so I can check the route. My maps were up to date so it updated the software only during this update.

Also, I will plug in the upcoming Middlebury trip and simulate the drive to see how it does.
