Gps

We have a 2021 Class A Thor outlaw and we are having trouble figuring out how to use the navigation part of the Axxera 72NAV. We are not sure if this system has to be paid for before we can use the navigation or if it is installed like trucks and cars ready to use with no fee. Thanks

Check to make sure the Map card (SD card) is installed in the slot on the front of the unit. The maps are installed on the card which can be upgraded for a small charge online. Other than that, no charge to use.

It can be useless. We use Google maps on my phone while I am driving. Axxera does not real time alter travel!

It's a novelty... more of a marketing gimmick than a useful tool. Do yourself a favor and invest in a dedicated GPS satellite receiver (Garmin or similar) which has free updates for maps and software. Pair that with Google Maps on a cellular device (phone/tablet, etc.). There will be times when one or the other can't receive an OTA signal, so you have a backup. There are also discrepancies between mapping, so you have choices. Google also has an offline option where you can download the mapping data for an area. We frequent "underserved" cellular areas in the Appalachian mountains, so ask me how I know about the value of a backup navigation system...

Learn to read a map and forget about a GPS unit.

I might have a vintage Rand McNally road Atlas in a box somewhere... I see they make a large-print edition now. There's also AAA Trip Ticks. Great analog backups.

My eyes aren't what they were 40+ years ago. It's nice when "Missy" (our Garmin) gives me a voice reminder that I just missed the turn off... .

We bought and use a Garmin 890 instead of using the Axxera in our 2022 Thor 31W
