For those of you with one, what are your experiences and feelings with the side to side mud flap all the way across at the rear? Mine rides about 3" from the road and creates terrific air movement which will put small gravel into the kayaks on top of the toad. I once straddled a squirrel and watched it launched out the back end at a 45* angle to a height of about 5-6'.
This is very hard on the toad, even with a Protect-A-Tow. I am considering removing the flap and having individual flaps installed behind each dual.
Anyone tried this? Results?
I used to have a brush type on my old motorhome and it seemed fine. But on my new RV I have only flaps behind each set of duals. I tow a Jeep Wrangler and have had no dings or paint chips at all. I see no need to install any thing else.
I added actual mud flaps behind my drive tires, no problems in 60,000 miles
though I loved the idea of getting a big 'Palazzo' full width flap, after hearing the stories of toads and rocks, I decided the easier and better route was what truckers use...

We have a Protect a Tow, and similar products are available from Blue Ox and Roadmaster. They all involve a skirt that hooks to the RV bumper and the towed vehicle. Keeps the rocks below. I still use a full front mask (bra) on our towed car. That may be a belt and suspenders approach.
