Heated air raises vinyl flooring??
Team! Please give me a sanity check here... have a 2017 Four Winds 31E. We went to Yosemite this past weekend and ran the heater for the first time. When the heated air is coming out, the vinyl flooring raises off the subfloor? Is this not normal as I suspect or some kind of engineering genius that I don't have the ability to comprehend? Thanks!!

Doesn't sound normal to me. Air must be getting under the flooring close to the heating unit.

Heat is probably getting the vinyl soft and allowing it to come up because it wasn’t glued properly. Only fix would be to remove and reglue the vinyl. Either enough glue wasn’t used or it was allowed to dry to long before the vinyl was put down, either way not an easy fix.

Perhaps there is a floor register that was inadvertently covered by the vinyl?

John, if for some reason the factory covered up a duct with the flooring you should be able to push down in that area and locate it, or possibly Thor could send you the drawings indicating where all the heating ducts are suppose to be.
There are kits available with syringes and flooring glue that you may want to find and try. They enable you to inject glue down under that area of flooring to reseal it to the plywood subfloor. If it was me and I used one of the glue kits I would put a flat board on the area with about 50 pounds of weight on top of it and let it sit for a couple of days.
Good luck.

This is my suspicion as well. I'm going to ask Thor for a diagram of heating ducts for my coach.

The thing is, the lifting happens as soon as the air comes on so I think that you're right that no glue was used or the glue was dried already when the vinyl was put down. Thanks for the feedback.

I felt around all over the floor and didn't find where a register could be. There are two registers/vents elevated off the floor... one by the furnace and one in the bathroom. When I get the spec/diagram from Thor, that should help determine if floor registers are part of the system. Thanks for the feedback!

My guess, only a guess, the heat expands the vinyl, causing it to buckle. It wasn't installed correctly, and should be re-done under warrantee. Hopefully your 2017 is still under the one year warrantee. My 2017 only has a week or two left on its one year, currently at the shop having the final punch list of warrantee covered stuff done.

The same thing is happening in my 2016 Outlaw 38RF. Dealer has raised an issue with Thor while still in warranty, but they still don’t have an answer yet.

Believe it or not, Thor does NOT glue the flooring down. Why? The time it takes to dry? The cost? Not necessary because the cabinetry holds it down? I was told this by the tech doing floor warranty work on mine.

I hate to say it, but I think you are right. If you look closely at the flooring, you can see staple holes in the vinyl, here and there. I wondered about those, now, I guess I know!!!!!

I wish you were correct about no glue under the vinyl. I know for a fact they use glue under vinyl on the 2018 Challenger YT.
