Your local Chevrolet Service Manager is clueless. Your Owners Manual says you can tow it either 4 down or on a dolly - that overrides clueless people at the dealers.
The procedure in your Owners Manual is very similar to my procedure for our Sonic. You may be able to pull the DLIS fuse and leave it out. If you do not have a locking steering wheel you should be able to turn the ignition OFF with the DLIS fuse removed and remove the ignition key and lock the vehicle.
Removing the DLIS fuse does a few things for your vehicle:
Allows the key to be turned to OFF with the transmission in neutral
If you leave the key in ACC the BCM will turn off the radio and all accessories after the "time-out" period. This is the same "time-out" that keeps your radio on after you turn the key OFF until the time has elapsed or your open the door.
Good luck with your setup.
