Replacing Tranquility Stove with Flush Mount Stove

Hello everyone! New to the Tranquility and this forum, but not to RVs. I tried to search and read around as much as I could, but couldn't find anything on of anyone tried to replace their suburban stove with a flush mount version from Suburban or Dometic. Seems like the cutout needs to be a bit bigger, but that's all I can tell. Hopefully someone has already done this and documented their pain points!

Were you able to successfully replace the suburban cooktop?

Unfortunately not, Still looking for options.

The mid year refresh didn't have the stove, which I think is a great idea!

I'm looking to swap my cook top as well. I think I'm going to just cut the quartz unless someone has another option

As argonzero pointed out, during mid 2023 model year production, Thor switched from the Suburban Mfg 2 burner LP cooktop (Model 3071AST) to a single burner portable 120V Induction cooktop. I believe part of their rational for this was to free up some counter space in the tight Sanctuary/Tranquility models. However, with the induction cooktop, now the inverter must be on when using it and a place to store the electric cooktop is required too. Again, requiring additional storage or drawer space that is also at a premium in these rigs.

There are several LP cooktop options that might work by installing to the right side of the sink and include:

Suburban 3071AST (stainless steel top cover as originally used in the 23' and earlier)
Suburban 3071ABK (black top cover)
cutout dimensions 16-3/8"lenght x 11-5/8" width x 2-3/4" deep
https://suburbanrv.com/kitchen-galle...p-in-2-burner/

Camplux RV201S (stainless top - same cutouts as Suburban models above)
https://camplux.com/products/camplux...opane-rv-stove

FlameKing YSNHT600 (stainless top - same cutouts as Suburban models above)
This does have a mechanical (not electric) piezo ignition whereas the models above use a match to light the burners. I ordered one of these and the quality of the paint/covering in the cooking grates is poor and the grates will rattle when you are driving. The decal around the control knobs will melt too. It will be returned.
https://flameking.com/product/ysnht600-2/

There are two other potential candidates too and both use a 12V ignition. The challenge for these is the longer cut out needed 18-7/8" or 18-15/16". The width is not an issue.

Contoure AG-200S (same manufacturer as the microwave)
https://www.contoureusa.com/product-...tainless-steel
The counter depth is not an issue.

Dometic D21 this is available in either black or stainless with various grate, and cover options.
https://www.dometic.com/en-us/outdoo...en/rv-cooktops
The counter depth may be close to the top of the small top drawer on the right side of the cabinet.

I don't believe the counters are quartz, but rather a synthetic plastic type material that will be easy to cut using a jig saw. Inspect the sink cover in more detail to see the material.

Lastly, if you have the induction cooktop, you'll also need to plumb an LP line to the cooktop too.

I'll report back as I proceed with this modification as my 19L currently has the induction cooktop.

Just curious...the LP cook top allows for more versatility without generator or 120V plug in...and...emergency heat if furnace goes out. What's the allure to this changeover? Doesn't induction cooking require special cookware also?

In my Class C, I had an induction as well and it was not so convenient.

I dont think I would prefer to switch over unless I had shore power, which is rare for this rig, but I would like any of the other stoves which are flush mounted that has a lid. That way you still have a LP stove and countertop all in one.

Hi everyone, got around to this a few months ago. Works, but the only problem is the Dometic stove doesn't work sometimes because of the bum regulator. I opened the regulator and manually adjusted the spring by pulling on it.

How do I share pictures? Looks like they have to be hosted somewhere....

IMO the impetus for eliminating the propane cooktop and just throwing in a portable induction unit is labor cost savings. No propane hoses to run, no countertop hole to cut.

Alright! Thanks for the tip.

It was a tight fit, but I cut the area with a scroll saw, cut easily. There was area which barely made it, the wood under would still protrude by 0.5 inch but the counter top was cut back if that makes sense.

Dometic support is not good at all. This stove cost a lot and had those high altitude issues. Also didn't work at sea level because of the way the electronic propane valve works on the RV.

Very nice work!! Odd... we've used our propane appliances (stove, water heater & furnace) AND generator at elevations from 11,000 feet to sea level and have had zero issues. Maybe just lucky?
