2015 Thor WindSport roof trusses

I am new to this forum and are looking for help, we are thinking of placing rigid solar panels since the flexible panrl I currently have have failed us after only 2 years. Does anyone know how thick the wood on the roof is I don't know if I have aluminum trusses I would like to know how far apart they are from each other so that in case the wood is thin I can attach directly to them any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a different brand but I was able to use an ordinary stud finder to locate my “rafters”. Mine are stamped aluminum and are 16 inches on center. I installed a 36 inch long rigid Renogy panel with 6 “Z” brackets and was able to put all six screws into metal. I predrilled for stainless steel screws, injected Dicor into the holes, puddled Dicor to bed the brackets in and then flooded the edges of the brackets. My panel isn’t going anywhere and has zero chance of a leak. I also like that there is an airspace under the panel to help it cool and to take a it of summer heat load off of the roof.

Good luck. Mine was an interesting project and is 100% successful keeping my batteries topped up in storage.

Thor sent me an engineering drawing of my Hurricane roof. Call them with your VIN and they should help you. Despite all the bad press, they are pretty helpful.
