Harvest Host

What does everyone in the warmer climates do to keep cool while visiting a Harvest Host location?

Our membership is up for renewal and we are thinking of not renewing due to a lack of use. We live in Florida and while there are many great locations here, we only have three months out of the year we can actually visit a host since most of the locations don't have hook ups. Before we cancel we thought we would see what others have done.

Thanks in advance.

You have 3 choices:

Visit HH that supply electricity (yes, some do).
Visit HH where you can run your generator.
Find somewhere else to stay.

It sure sounds as if your foot is on the running bord, and you only need to let go of the door handle...
We can't tell you what to do: re-examine your priorities, and the right choice will ne there for you.

Thanks for the reply. It is actually just the opposite, we really want to stay and try to visit some of these places which is why we are trying to reach out to see what others do. I am not sure I would say not being able to sleep in a 90+ degree coach is a priority that can be reassessed but if that is what everyone else does, than I know the program is a good fit for us.

My post is not a rant or a compliant, I am just trying to see what others are doing to overcome what appears to be a common problem.

Thanks again.

We've had a HH membership coming up on two years, and have only used it a couple of times in that period. Both were spring trips; so heating/cooling weren't an issue. That said, the "social learning" aspect of both stays (introducing grandspawn to working farms) was time and money well spent.

We see it as a great supplement to any "major" camping membership like Good Sam, KOA or similar - nothing more, nothing less. Our only concern is that our other priorities (work, family health, other personal issues) haven't allowed us to use it to it's potential yet.

Bottom line? Understand what it is - and what it isn't. It's either for you or it's not. Hopefully our other issues (and Covid vaxxes) allow us to use it more during the next renewal period.
