Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail

I'm interested in driving BIGCAR (2017 Thor Compass 23TR on the LCNHT, starting at the headquarters in Omaha, NE and going to Ft.Clatsop in Astoria, OR. Has anyone used the information from the LCNHT organization to plan and take the auto trip?

saddlesore, Yes. I hope so. There’s an informal organization that encourages and supports motorists wanting to take the LCNHT. But, like the Route 66 organization, it has a bias toward its paid sponsors. I sent out this thread to see if there are motorists that can help me sort through this LCNHT information as I plan my itinerary.

I did portions 5 or 6 years ago when on my NC to AK motorcycle trip. Spent one night at MO State Park in Northern MO and visited a very nice museum just up the road. In Idaho I started to "run" a portion (gravel and sand road) that led into Oregon. But, turned around and went back to Boise when I noticed there were no gas stations or communities showing on my map. Fort Clatsop had a great Museum on its grounds.

Have a great trip and be careful.

We got intrigued by the Oregon Trail due to the game we purchased on CD about 25 years back.

Followed it and saw all the historic sites noted in the game plus more. It was a great trip and we saw a lot of country.

An off memorable item was the trains being put together near Laramie where we camped overnight to visit the fort. All night long bump, bang, bump but all the trip was great.

It is a lot of trip for a single trip unless you have 6 weeks or so
