2015 Axis generator won't turn over. Help

Ok
Went out and the girl had left the heater on for a couple days. Both house and chasie batteries were dead.
Put some cables on the house batteries and fired up the generator. Pulled the cables and went inside for about 20 min and walked back out. When I came out the generator wasn't running. Hooked the cables back up and started it again then disconnected the cables and messed around for a min then after about 5 min the generator shut off again.
Hooked up the cables again and this time I'm getting nothing at the switch. No prime light no turning over at any of the switches.
Got the house and chasie batteries charged up with a charger and I still have nothing to the switches.
What I have checked and verified.
Checked the breakers and fuses below the fridge.
Checked the breaker in the battery compartment and the motor compartment.
Checked the breaker to the right of the generator start switch on the generator.
Checked and made sure I have power to the solenoid on the generator.
If I jump power to the other side of the solenoid the generator turns over.
I pulled the solenoid and tested it with 12v and ground and it clicks and connects. So it's good.
I checked for a 12v signal at the small wires on the solenoid while pressing the switch and I'm getting nothing.

Can any one tell me how these switches get there power and are wired together and if I'm missing a fuse somewhere.

How much fuel do you have? Must have more that 1/4 tank or it will cut off the generator fuel to save some fuel for the Ford engine.

Plus gauge might be off some (not level) so if its less than 1/3 tank that might be the problem?

Is it over heating? Perhaps shutting down due to temp? Take Genny cover off and look for mice nest blocking air flow?

How cold is it outside? Add Fuel stable with water remover to tank?

That all I can think of off hand.

Let us know how it works out.

Perhaps someone else will chime in with better info.

How long has it been since you ran your generator for hours at a time?

Fuel level is not your current problem.
The generator needs control power from the house batteries to run. If you jump dead batteries to start it and the house batteries are not being charged by the converter, the generator will die as soon as the battery level drops too low.

The control board gets its 12 VDC through the 100 amp DC breaker in the battery compartment which connects to the supply side of the solenoid. On that terminal should be a smaller gauge wire that goes to the control board which has a 5 amp fuse at its input to protect it. Connecting jumper cables and dragging batteries down to nothing multiple times creates havoc on electrical systems.

An easy check is to trip and reset the 100 amp DC breaker. It may be passing 12 VDC through but the contacts may not be connected well enough to pass starter current.

Tank is full forgot to say I checked that already.
Ace
Thank you for the info. If the switches run off that control board that is most likely what is going on. I will check the fuse and report back tomorrow. Fingers crossed.
As far as the 100 amp DC breaker in the battery box I have triped and reset it a few times. I also checked the voltage drop when I jumped the solenoid at the generator supply line and it was minimal so I should be getting good connection through it.

Hello,
We were unable to start our generator today but once we started the RV engine it would start - however as soon as we turned off the engine it stopped again.
We believe our house battery is fully charged.
I saw your comment on “how long has it been since you’ve used the generator for an extended period”?
In our case it has been a long time.
Could this be the issue?

No, you have dead house batteries.

What makes you think they are charged?

Have you measured them with a voltmeter?

We will test with a voltmeter as soon as we get home.
Thank you!

And now that we are driving, I see that the chassis A/C has stopped working.
Fuse perhaps?

That guess is as good as any with the information provided.

Measured with a voltmeter when we got home - house batteries are fine.
It may be the issue of not running it frequently or long enough.
We will look into that next - and see what work may be required.

Define "Fine". What voltage does the voltmeter read?

I think the generator is also working now - time will tell if it continues.
Thank you for your help sorting through this - we very much appreciate it!
