Define "not working"

Search on the Forum for Sensor issues.

Sounds like you have the normal set of tank sensors they've been installing forever, they work great for a tank full, or maybe 2, but then never change regardless of empty or full.
Your about to read all kinds of cures, magic potions, enzymes, bags of ice & 100 other this or that & yes 1 or 2 might work for a tank full, or 2, then back to the same "not working".
Don't drive yourself nuts over them, your toilet will have very distinctive burp or gurgle when you flush when the tank is nearing, learn this signal & forget the sensors.
Same with the grey tanks. The shower will start backing up, usually about the time you're in all lathered up, when that tank is full. The kitchen grey tank will usually be good til the others need dumped.
I've owned several rvs in 45+ years & none were the sensors more than pretty red lights on the monitor panel, the last 2 rvs I never ever looked at them.

What Tex said is the truth. We've had RVs since the 80s and none of the tank sensors were worth the time to check them. We know how long we can camp without dumping tanks and just enjoy ourselves.

I'm a newbie but did make an interesting observation.
Our 1st outing was just a couple nights. When we packed to head home we drained the Black tank *Completely* and then the gray tank completely.

Thought we'd try the San-T-Flush. Let it run several minutes then re-drained the black tank. WOW lots of yuck came out. Ran San-T-Flush a 2nd time letting the Black tank fill for several minutes. Drained the Black tank again...WOW lots of yuck came out. 3rd time we had clear water only.

What I learned is that I will try to never just completely drain my black tank once and head home. If possible we will wash it as many times as it takes to get 100% clear water.

Exactly what we do. And we place Walmart tabs in with pine sol and/or venigar on the drive home

After I dump and flush my tanks, I pour a 4 gallon mixture of warm water, dawn, and Borax down each toilet. It sloshes and cleans on the way home. Our tanks read empty when I get there.

Years ago tried Pine Sol & found that pine scented s##t is much worse than plain s##t. Can't possibly imagine what pickled s##t would smell like using vinegar.
A few gallons of water along with a good long squirt of dish soap or laundry soap, the cheap dollar store brands work as well as any, works very well to keep odors down & the black tank as clean as it will ever get.

Another black tank sensors don't work thread. I hate these threads cause I have to agree with the other 40+ years of RVng guys on how long our black tank sensors haven't worked and suddenly that makes me feel old...
